Tried making my own Blooming Onion today, It out pretty good. I took some very small onions, peeled them leaving the root end. Because I cut clear through the onion the first time I turned them so the root end was on top and cut from about a 1\4 inch from the root through to the middle. And spacing the cuts to make petals clear around. I then spread the petals out not to far though. Soak it in water for about 15 minutes. Dredaged them in seasoned flour, then egg wash, then in seasoned bread crumbs. Deep Fried them until done. Pretty Tasty

scratch cooking
I have been trying to decide what exactly kind of cook I am. I have always considered myself a scratch cook, but then I realized I also use modern techinics I don't get up in the morning to start a fire in an old woodburning stove. I do use a micorwave ( usually to thaw things out or to warm things up ) On the other hand I buy flour in 25 lb. bag sugar also. I do use modern recipes always looking for something new. I use a crock-pot usually for the Roast everyother Sunday. Maybe what I should say is I'm a modern scratch cook.
Today, I am making Salsa with some Tomatoes I was given., Hoping for a few pints to use during the winter. Starting to get in the Fall mood.
I made a cheese ball, something my kids didn't ever get until I started making them myself. The kids was still at home when I was given the recipe. Then I made it my own. Not many people we know make theirs with Jalopeno and Pepperoni. Now I need to get back to the Salsa. Enjoy Your Day
